SO, WHAT'S MY STORY

Heather Bunker Branding Co was started out of my necessity and desire to be home with my kids and still do what I loved—help business owners grow successful online businesses.

My passion for design and business started at a young age. I was surrounded by artisans of all kinds as a kid. My grandfather was a woodworker and all of my uncles too, my mom loved pottery and brought me with to classes, my dad is a stonemason, my aunt is a glass artisan, my aunt is a potter, and so many more...then,  I started making my own brands without knowing what branding was. I created my own made up snowsports line, t-shirt brands, and others...and when I finally put two-and-two together, I discovered brand design was a real thing and I was hooked.

I went to a very competitive university that taught me the importance of business, sales, marketing as well as design. I made it through University and I fell in love, I got married and had kids and realized I had to make this thing work. I wanted to see my kids grow up. I didn't want to miss out on pirate battles and princess rescues. Working late at an agency to meet unrealistic deadlines was not going to cut it. I wanted to see the results from the work I was doing. I wanted to help creatives quite literally put food on the table and I also wanted to be a Mom—and pursue my passion at the same time.

I started to really connect with my clients I had and discovered that creatives really struggle with business, but they really struggle with managing home and business well. The best part of my job is helping creatives overcome any internal struggles they may have. Struggles like self limiting beliefs, time management, taking control of their finances and clarity in life and business. I have found that our success really stems from our home foundation. You see, you can have the best website in the world but if you aren't taking care of your mind, body, time, finances and home—your business suffers tremendously.

I grew up super poor. I ate ketchup sandwiches and washed my underwear in the sink—poor. We were even homeless a number of times...but I learned some amazing lessons in this struggle. I learned we have to use what we have and "just do the thing." Fear was something I learned to overcome and I learned that we have to really strive to get what we want and have faith that it will. I learned that a home is built with love, joy, and hard work and if we want to be successful in business, we have to have our home in order first and then have a very clear direction for our business.

I want to help creatives overcome the "starving artist" mentality and help them grow into a six-figure brand or more, I quite literally, want to help them put food on the table and build a home for their family. I want to help those creatives that have a passion and deep yearning to build a successful business but just don't know how to put there ducks in order.

The passion is there but the business knowledge isn't—yet. My mom taught me to be creative, to be a problem solver, to use what we have and do what we can and I want to help creatives do the same thing.

WAIT, WHAT IS
A BRAND?

Branding has become one of those buzz-words that gets thrown around really easily. Most people don’t really understand what it is or how to apply it to their art or creative passion. Branding is not a logo thrown onto a shirt or your logo for that matter.

Branding goes way beyond your logo, colors and fonts. A brand is made up of non-tangible things like, your positioning, who your brand serves, where your product is sold and what your product looks like. Creating a brand for your creative business is much more than just creating a logo and getting an Etsy shop. You're creating a visual identity, your brand’s personality, a consistent product lineup, and finding your voice, but most importantly, it’s building a reputation for your art and helping your ideal customers to really connect with it.

There's no denying that your creative business has the potential to create a huge emotional impact on your customers and the decisions they make to buy your art and products. People often buy a product because of brand awareness, because the business created an emotional connection to the brand. Think of your favorite brand...that is power.

The strength of a brand is directly related to the visibility of that brand within its target market. The greater the visibility of a product, the more likely people are to purchase it. But how do you go about creating this emotional connection with your customers? And how can you ensure that your brand is as visible as possible? That's where I come in.
